VFF executives will work with France Football Federation on the Vietnamese-origin Jason Pendant Quang Vinh serving Vietnam national team.
For World Cup 2022 Qualifiers in Asia zone, VFF and Park Hang-seo are facilitating the opportunities for Vietnamese oversea players. Mr. Le Hoai Anh, VFF general secretary said, VFF is working with France Football Federation (FFF) on seeking Vietnamese talented player.
“Attracting Vietnamese players oversea is one of VFF’s plan to build up strength for Vietnam national teams. However, we must study carefully legal procedures as well as FIFA regulations. We are working with experts on player assessments to get information and communication channels34, which approach and exchange when needed".
The cooperation between VFF and FFF is an opportunity for left-back Jason Pendant Quang Vinh to wear Vietnamese shirt. Vietnamese player has repeatedly expressed his aspiration to return to Vietnam.
Jason Pendant once said: "I have an ambition to play in Ligue 1. But as I shared, Vietnam is a part of me. Someday, if Vietnam calls me, I will definitely have to consider carefully. That's really a great pride".
The 22-year-old grew up from FC Sochaux's academy and was promoted to the first team from the 2016 season. This player had been summoned twice to the French Under-18. In addition, Jason also played 16 matches and scored 2 goals for U16 France.
Some sources revealed that the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) is completing the necessary procedures for Filip Nguyen goalkeeper to gain Vietnamese citizenship. He is about to receive a Vietnamese passport and is expected to be summoned in early September to join the national team to compete for the 2022 World Cup qualifier.
