Under coach Akira Nishino, U22 Thailand will compete at SEA Games 30 bolstered by stars like Supachok Sarachat, Supachai Jaided, and Suphanat Mueanta.
The Thai roster of under 22-players is so strong that Nishino will not need the 2 overaged players the rules allow. Supachok is the most prominent name on the 20-player roster. The Buriram midfielder was in the main lineup of Tuesday’s draw to Vietnam and performed quite well.
Suphant Mueantan, Thailand’s youngest U22 player, holds several records, including being the youngest player ever to join the Thai national team.
The attacking line of team Thailand is promising with Supachok, Supachai, and Suphanat. Coach Nishino’s U22 lineup will includes 4 forwards, 8 midfielders, 6 defenders, and 2 goalkeepers.
For SEA Games30, Thailand will be in group B with Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, and Brunei. Thailand’s ‘Changsuek’ (War Ellephants) are the defending champs and are determined to hang on to their title. FAT President Somyos Puampanmuang has said that U22 Thailand’s gold medal is Nishino’s responsibility.
U22 Vietnam is currently training in Ho Chi Minh city and will depart for the Philippines Friday afternoon.
